This really tastes like Heinz. My husband likes it and he doesn't like ketchup much. No added preservatives. You can halve the recipe too if you have a smaller family and don't use as much. It doesn't save you any money if you have to throw it out. This is a condiment. Play with the recipe as much as you like. I wouldn't recommend more vinegar or you could have a watery mess, but everything else adjust to your liking.
12 oz. tomato paste
1 cup LIGHT corn syrup
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Combine. Whisk. Boil. Simmer 20 min. with cover. Cool. Chill. Store with a tight lid or in a empty ketchup bottle. Makes enough for a $5.00 bottle of ketchup. Doesn't cost $5.00 though.
